How can you make the rail greener? The answer is simple – Class 93. The Class 93 locomotive is a next-generation tri-mode loco designed for flexible, efficient, and lower-carbon rail freight and passenger operations across the UK.

The Class 93 loco was manufactured by Stadler in Valencia, Spain.

Bringing the UK’s first locomotive running on diesel, electrics and battery to service wasn’t an easy task. Rail Operations Group is proud to have successfully introduced a fleet of 10 modern locos approved for service.

All 10 locomotives have successfully completed customer trials on routes across the UK, demonstrating their reliability, versatility and performance in a wide range of operating conditions. Designed to support both freight and passenger services, the Class 93 offers operators the flexibility to switch between power modes depending on the route, infrastructure and operational requirements – helping to deliver a cleaner, more efficient railway.
